Realizing the degree of responsibility before scientific, educational and cultural society, as well as before present and future generations, national libraries of the Russian Federation stress the necessity to initiate the project of the creation of National digital library. The project aims to cumulate, disclose, preserve and place the digital heritage at users’ disposal in the form of digital copies or in the form of different documents of digital origin.

Access to the fundamental mass (depository) of dissertations in digital versions is limited to users. It is accessible only in the Reading Hall of the Dissertation Department (Khimki, Moscow Region), in the Digital Library Hall of the RSL-LG, in the RSL Internet and Digital Document Hall, in the virtual halls of the RSL LG, being created in other organizations and institutions.

Materials and documents on history and modern symbols of Russia: pictures of flags and coat of arms, historic personalities, pre-revolutionary books and many unique materials and documents in the form of digital documents from the RSL collection, as well as state and patriotic music. The collection is available to everybody.

Russian Information Library Consortium: information searching in digital cataloques of the five biggest libraries of Russia.

The project developed the on-line union catalogue, available from this web portal, which offers integrated access to the catalogue of the Memorial Library of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy, held by the State Memorial and Natural Preserve Museum-Estate of Leo Tolstoy "Yasnaya Polyana", as well as to all related bibliographic records and a selection of digital resources in the Russian State Library.
