Cultural Observatory is published by the Centre for Research and Information in Arts and Culture (Informcultura) of RSL.

Cultural Observatory is a magazine, which addresses professionals and advanced amateurs. It covers the culture process in its wholeness and diversity regarding all representations of culture in the society: theater and music, arts and cinema, entertainment and travel.

The authorship of ’Cultural Observatory’ comprises celebrated Russian art and literary critics and culture theorists, philosophers, historians, to ensure that the wide range of humanities is approached by representatives of various scholarly schools and from different perspectives of view, to develop diversity of approaches matching complexity of the subject.

The publication provides academic researches on key issues of cultural process, reports on Russian and international cultural events; analytics, essays, profiles and interviews, both original and translations, which are prepared by ’Informcultura’ dedicated writers and reporters.

The sections Context and Reality of Culture rise issues of culture in the global world, focusing on it relations to ideology, religion ad information society, economics. It looks at human dimension of culture, culture at the everyday level, culture policies, issues of identity, ethnic and cultural diversity in Russia and globally etc.

The section Space of Culture is devoted to the present of Russian and international art in its sociocultural environment, particularly in the regions of Russia and CIS.

Due to recent developments in the field of higher education there emerged a number of dedicated departments of the Theory of Culture in educational institutions. Challenges which they face and practical solutions they apply are discussed in the section Cathedra aimed at educators, college and university teachers.
