Visit the Library

Any citizen of the Russian Federation or of a foreign state aged 14 and above may obtain a Reader Pass upon presentation of an ID

The RSL’s collections are subject to special security and access regulations. They can only be used in the library’s Reading Rooms and cannot be checked out for home use

The RSL has 34 Reading Rooms with over 1,600 seats, as well as exhibition spaces and comfortable reader areas. These are located in the Main Building, the Pashkov House, the Centre for Oriental Literature, and the Khimki Complex

Russian state library is open from 9:00 to 20:00

Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday

RSL is also closed on the last Monday of the month.

Once you have obtained your Reader Pass (including an electronic one), you may place orders. To save time, please place your order before visiting the Library.

If the document is not held in the RSL’s collections, it can be ordered from another library through Interlibrary Loan or International Interlibrary Loan
